AS

I have been working with ceramics since 2016.

Aesthetically, all my work is the result of inspiration from nature, its beauty, vitality and strength. I come from a small town in the Siberian taiga, and a childhood fascination with the beauty of the forest has grown deep within me. In one way or another, I always return to this theme. Sometimes it's the shape (organic, rounded, asymmetrical), sometimes the coating (natural tones, rough, tactile, matte/semi-matt surfaces) or the firing method (alternative techniques with the addition of organic materials). I like to combine ceramics with other natural materials, like wood, stone, and shells.

At the same time, my art is introspective. Ceramics is my way of self-discovery, an attempt to connect with my inner self, an opportunity to see my emotions and feelings, to experience pain and to heal. One of the most exciting themes in recent years has been fear and finding wholeness and strength through overcoming it.

I sculpt with my hands, mostly using the coiling technique. It's a method that allows me to slow down, release control of the material, and follow my intuition. It's a collaborative process where I become a co-author with the material. I find the same co-creation in alternative firing techniques (raku, saggar, horsehair), which I am actively exploring.
